The leaves on this plant are long, thin, and lean looking, sprouting from the base of the stem, and falling over to touch the ground. The leaves will grow to be about six to eight inches long, and the flower pops up for the center of the green leaves that are lying on the ground to a height above the greenery for a delightful display.
Spanish Bluebell gets their name because the flower is shaped like a bell. The flowers are found in various colors from white, to pink, to purple or blue, sometimes even a mixture of purple and blue. You can use the Spanish Bluebell to accent any gardens that are along a pathway where you have a real chance to stop and admire their beauty.
Spanish Bluebells are a bulb that is planted in the fall months, and they will bloom in the mid to late spring months. The flowers will last until the heat of summer starts to rise and the flowers will die off with the leaves not far behind. When planting the Spanish Bluebells, plant them about four inches deep and about the same space apart so the leaves have space to fall over on top of each other creating a very nice intertwined display.
This is an easy to grow plant, making it a great choice for any type of soil that is well drained.
