Siberian Iris Siberian iris is a plant that is know for its beauty and color. Siberian iris is also a graceful flower, giving your garden an over all height advantage. The plant forms a long and narrow stem that is similar to a look of a sword, and the flower blooms from the top portion of the stem. Only one flower will bloom on any giving stem. Each plant does spread out somewhat over the years, to about one foot in the first year, and a little further, about two feet wide in the growing years after.
Siberian iris is a plant that will grow best and bloom in the early spring months. Sometimes the flowers will last until the early weeks of summer. There are various colors of the Siberian iris that you can enjoy, some of which include shades of purple, shades of white and purple as well.
This plant grows best in the full sun areas of your gardens, or in containers when placed in full sun. You can grow Siberian iris in a partially shaded area, if the plants are still going to receive a good eight hours of sunlight a day. The more sunlight that these plants receive, the more vibrant the colors of the flower, and the greener the stem appears.
The Siberian iris is both heat and cold tolerant, so even if you have a really cold spring or a very summer, your plants will still bloom and bring color. The soil that you plant your Siberian iris in should be a well draining soil. This will allow the roots of your plant to spread out and seek water or moisture. This is a perennial plant, a taller growing plant that you can enjoy through out several times of the year. They can thrive in a container or in full sun areas of your greenhouse.
