The proper name for Rose daphne is Daphne cneorum, belonging to the thymeleaceae family. The Rose daphne is a shrub that will grow to be about a foot high and about three feet wide. In the first years, the shrub is only going to be about a foot wide but as it matures in the second and third year, it will spread out even more.
The flowers on the Rose daphne are pink, a light color that look similar to cotton candy. The flowers appear in the spring months and will continue to thrive until the heat of summer dries off the flowers. Under the best conditions the Rose daphne will bloom again in the fall months. Growing best in grow zones four through nine; the Rose daphne loves full sun areas of your gardens. When first planting this shrub in the garden, be sure to protect it from the wind. The wind during the fall and winter months can make your shrub grow sideways instead of straight.
You can grow this shrub in a container or in the gardens surrounding your home. In areas next to a fence, the house, garage or greenhouse where it will enjoy the full sun but out of the winter weather winds will be best. This shrub does not need fertilizer all the time. Possibly a light fertilizer just once is all that is required. If you have a friend that has a Rose daphne, you can take a cutting in the spring (with permission of course).
