Creeping Jenny Ground Cover Perennial flowers are a wonder; they come back every year as an addition to your greenhouse, bringing life in areas where it is the most to garden. Creeping Jenny is a perennial plant and a very low maintenance ground cover. You can also use it in a container that will sit on your deck or patio. You can even grow Creeping Jenny in the greenhouse year round to brighten those unusable corners of your shelving. The shiny round leaves look about the size of a quarter and are a great backdrop to the bright flowers of this plant. Even after the flowers die off, the green leaves remain as a remarkable ground cover. Creeping Jenny has leaves that are about an inch long with flowers that are also about an inch. The stems reach out, grow over the soil, and then root, helping the plant stabilize as it spreads and continues to grow. The Creeping Jenny grows to be just five or six inches high. The flowers on this plant are yellow, a bright color similar to a buttercup. The flowers bloom in the late spring and continue through the summer months.
There are very few problems in growing Creeping Jenny. It is a good choice for beginner gardeners because pests don't bother this plant. Another name for the Creeping Jenny is the Moneywort, because the leaves are so similar to the shape and sizes of coins. This flower grows best in grow zones three through eight in full sun areas to the full shade areas. Creeping Jenny groundcover will grow just about anywhere you need a little help in producing flowers and plants where others will not grow.
