Decisions in Buying a Greenhouse
If you have never had a hobby greenhouse before there are many decisions that you will need to make before actually purchasing a greenhouse.

While some of these decisions are quite obvious there are others that are not. Here I am going to present some of the preliminary things you must decide upon before buying a greenhouse.

Some simple items that you can check on are: Does your local government require a permit to place a greenhouse on your property? Many times this answer is no, but it is better to check than to pay some sort of fine later on. How big of a greenhouse do you want? Review your finances and your income to determine how big or what type of greenhouse you can purchase. Once you have determined how much you can spend, the actual choice is much easier. When you have an unlimited budget, it is in your best interest to buy one size larger than what you think you need in order to grow with your hobby. Another consideration when buying a hobby greenhouse, is for which seasons do you want to use your greenhouse. If you are simply looking to extend your growing seasons without growing during the cold winter or the hot summer months, you may be able to use a single pane hobby greenhouse, but if you are looking to expand your gardening throughout the year your best option will be a double wall or triple wall insulated greenhouse to keep both your heating and cooling costs lower than with a single insulated layer for the greenhouse.

It doesn't matter what type of plants you want to grow right now, you may change your mind later as your hobby continues to expand. You can adapt your greenhouse to meet your specific environments growing needs. You should think about how close children and pets will be to your greenhouse. If you have large pets or children near the hobby greenhouse you may opt for a polycarbonate instead of glass. Glass easily breaks, where polycarbonate will absorb the shocks of many types of interactions with children.
